The Albala Family

Beyond some dates, virtually nothing is known of Esther Albala:

As far as I can tell, she never took out a social security number nor became a citizen of the United States.

There is no hint of who her siblings or parents might have been.

Dead end.

But, maybe not. Esther's oldest daughter, Tamar, emigrated to Temuco, Chile, with her husband, Salvador Cassorla. According to my paternal grandmother, her maternal grandfather was a gambler, and when they came to the United States he was very dissatisfied, claiming his wife could not afford to "support him in the style to which he had become accostomed". So, saying this, he left his wife and children, and went to live with their daughter, Tamar in Chile, as she had married "a wealthy man"!

In any case, with the help of Moises Hasson, I learned there was a large Jewish community in Temuco (their destination) and a large Albala family there as well. Chances are, that family (below) is related to mine. However, I haven't a clue how, nor at this time, how to pursue it.
